When I was researching upgrading my audio, Crutchfield instructions for installing the aftermarket mount said I'd have to cut the rear bracket out. Check out their installation instructions. Mine is an 08, not sure if all JK's are the same. Looking at double DIN receivers on Crutchfield's website it says for many that the rear metal bracket has to be cut to make room. I was thinking about using a cut-off wheel in a grinder, then using an air hammer with a chizel to "peel" them off, and of course then a normal grinder to smooth it out.
